The public reactions to the showing of the movie "Boys in the Shower" to fourth grade students in an Athens school are getting more and more fierce. Parents of a 10-year-old student sent an out-of-court complaint to the principal, citing an inappropriate film against the same content that was shown without the teacher's permission from the guardians.

The family's lawyer, Charalambos Katsivardas, spoke to ERT about the case that is under investigation by the General Secretariat of Primary Education and Special Education.

"This is a quintessential film with homosexual content, which takes place between 12-year-old male teenagers," the family's lawyer said, noting that his clients are asking for a disciplinary review of whether the teacher meets the conditions or took the initiative to show the film on her own. specific movie.

Referring to the out-of-court protest against the director of the school, Primary Education and the Ministry of Education, Mr. Katsimbardas stated that "the most important thing for the State is to protect childhood".

He also revealed that his clients are both educators while the content of the short film has also drawn protests from other parents. "After the publicity received by this particular case, I also had phone calls from parents from other schools about an arbitrariness that exists in the State with such issues," he claimed without specifying, however, whether he has evidence of these complaints. He claimed that "it is not an isolated incident", referring to teachers who are arbitrary in the critical issues of sexual orientation.

In a statement, the General Secretariat of Primary Education and Special Education states: "On Friday 19/5, a parent's protest regarding this issue was reported. On the same day, the protest was immediately sent to the relevant Directorate of Primary Education to check and thoroughly investigate the incident, find out exactly what happened and inform us about it. As soon as the results of the investigation are communicated to us, we will decide according to the current legislation."
