South Korean President Moon Jae-in described the upcoming meeting between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as a "historic milestone" for peace, South Korean media reported.
"The May meeting will go down in history as a milestone in bringing peace to the Korean Peninsula," Moon said in a statement read to reporters by a Blue House spokesman, according to Yonhap news agency.
"After the meeting between President Trump and President Kim after the inter-Korean (summit) summit, the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula will be on the right track," the statement said.
Excluding the two leaders because they made a "difficult" decision, Moon stressed that the leadership shown by Trump in particular would be appreciated not only by the Koreans, but also "by the peoples of the world."
