Victory for Trump: Tax reform passed the Senate

tramp 145 INTERNATIONAL, USA, Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump won a landslide victory with the Senate passing a historic tax reform and a huge tax cut. The text, which was adopted by just 51 votes to 49, is now set to be harmonized with the version adopted by the House of Representatives on 16 November. It will be the first major overhaul of the 45th US president, who failed to deliver on his commitment to repeal Barack Obama's health care system in the autumn.

"This is a great time for American families and small businesses to look forward to turning the pages of the Obama-era slow recovery," said Republican John Cornyn.

The news would undoubtedly be in the forefront of the news if it were not for the progress in the investigation into Russia conducted by Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller, who yesterday filed charges against former presidential adviser Michael Flynn, who pleaded guilty statements.

All but one Republican senator voted in favor of the reform just before 02 a.m. (local time) today, with the Democratic minority unanimously opposing it. Earlier, two amendments, one Republican and one Democratic, were adopted during a long series of votes.

The majority kept to their schedule, a few hours apart. It does not want to lose momentum and intends to act quickly, convening a committee of the two houses of parliament next week to draw up a compromise between the two houses of Congress. Then each body must vote again before the end of the year.
