Guilty of misconduct - Acquitted of rape
The 39-year-old was unanimously found guilty by the Mixed Jury Court of Athens sailing coach for abusing his minor athlete in 2011. He was sentenced to 13 years in prison without mitigation, but the court acquitted him of rape.
The court acquitted him of the charge of continuous rape by a majority, as the president of the court, a congressman and a juror voted in favor of his guilt.
Upon hearing the decision, the mother of the 21-year-old athlete who complained to the coach burst into tears.
The court did not accept the proposal of the district attorney who had proposed to the court the guilt of the accused for continuous rape and continuous misconduct, requesting his acquittal for seduction due to absorption from the gravest offense of misconduct. .
The sailing coach was sentenced to 13 years in prison. It is recalled that this is the first trial that took place for the Greek Metoo movement.
