The Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth (YPAN) informs parents/guardians that the House of Representatives in its session, dated 21.03.2024, voted on the Primary and Secondary Education (Compulsory Education and Provision of Free Education) (Amendment) Law of 2024, which refers to the gradual expansion of free compulsory pre-primary education from the age of four.

This is a landmark development in the history of Cypriot education, which significantly upgrades pre-primary education, with huge pedagogical and social benefits. Research data points out that the two-year compulsory pre-primary education leads to a better learning process and early diagnosis in matters of illiteracy, violence and delinquency. At the same time, it ensures equal access opportunities to quality education programs and facilitates the integration or reintegration into the labor market of parents/guardians.

Therefore, parents/guardians, who are affected by the amendment of the above legislation, are informed that the registrations of students aged 46/12-48/12 (ie children with a date of birth 01.01.2020-29.02.2020) , in Public and Community Kindergartens, for the new school year 2024-2025, will be held from March 28 to April 2, 2024.

Registration will be conducted in the same way as for children aged 48/12-6 years. For the smooth conduct of registrations/transfers, affected parents/guardians are requested to follow the instructions presented in the attached file.
